jack at the zoo
Had a great day at australia zoo i,ve got lot,s of pics of the steve Irwin memorial and all the animals. The picture shows thousands of signatures on the shirts. There were about 100 shirts on display from people wanting to write a message to Steve. It was sad. We went cane toad hunting yesterday but it was to cold for them so we didn,t catch any. Were heading out now for the big part of our trip now. only rained ones but it was still a good day. missing you all see you soon……………jack.

Bronte’s new love
Robbie’s niece has a little dog called Jasmine. It’s a Maltese/Spaniel cross and is soooo cute. Both Jack and Bron said if they ever get a dog this will be the one.
This other picture was taken at Lainies house (Robbie’s sister). You can see Lainie and Jade (her daughter) and Mel (Lainie’s friend) on the left.
We are staying with Lainie and Ralph at the moment. They are totally spoiling us. Yesterday they served pancakes with maple syrup and fresh strawberries for breakfast.
It’s our last night in Brisbane. We are leaving on our road trip tomorrow. The van is packed to the brim with things I never thought we’d need. We have something for every eventuality. The list includes a ‘dutch oven’ (It doesn’t involve a duvet:-) a billycan, and a toilet seat which is attached to a stool so you can poo in comfort in the outback. We have every tool you can imagine including ropes and winches to drag us out of potholes. We should be gone for about 6 weeks so we may not be in regular contact. On the way we are meeting up with Robbie’s dad who will be travelling with us for a while.
Oh by the way we tricked Robbie today. Lainie put a false spider on his shoulder. He screamed so loudly Ralph came out into the yard to see what was going on. It was so funny. And I thought I was going travelling with a big brave man!! Mind you, I can’t talk. I’ve already had two spider nightmares where I woke up screaming!
Rainforest pics
I don’t have many pics of the rainforest. Hopefully this one shows you how tall all the trees are. There are loads of swinging vines. I can see how tarzan could live quite happily here!
The funny alien like strands on the other picture are tree roots. They look as if the tree is being pushed up into the air.
Holiday Update-Minus Hamster Gossip
Am I the only one around here that is actually telling you what is going on?? Hamsters and PG’s seem to be getting more of a look-in than the actual trip itself!
Yesterday we drove up to the top of Mount Glorious, a nearby mountain range. The views were as the name suggests! We met up with the biker boys..Teilo, Craig, Scott and Peter for a coffee. Robbie was feeling envious as he couldn’t find a motorbike to borrow. While we were there we went for a walk in the rainforest. It is really beautiful though we didn’t see much wildlife.
In the afternoon we went to the camping shop. I’m sure we could have spent the whole eleven weeks in there and Jack would have been happy. We have ordered two swags for the kids. Just hope they come in time for our next trip. Jack and Bron are so excited as they’d seen them on Ray Mears.
In the evening I went to hot yoga. When Kath said it was ‘hot’ I thought she meant ‘great’. What she actually meant was it takes place in a sauna. They heat the place up to 40 degrees then put your body into punishing positions for 90 minutes. I thought I was going to die!! The boxing on Monday was bad enough! I have never sweated so much in my life. If I don’t get a tight butt by the end of this trip I don’t know what I’ll do.
This is a picture of Kath in a Fig tree in the park in South Bank (Brisbane).

Back in the Land of the Hamsters
I am happy to say that as I sat around the table with my fellow Australian Scrabble players the sweet sound of Hamstering was indeed a loud chorus. Claire was the only one sat quietly (even Bron gave into the Hamster peer pressure) and really felt left out.
Luke was happy to provide his new top secret Hamster techniques that not only let me get all my letters out but also win the game. Go Hamster!!!
