A Dawning Realisation…

…..I have turned into my mother.

Yesterday on arrival at a new campsite I spent 20 minutes shuffling Robbie into the correct campsite position, taking into consideration the position of the sun (for the evening and the following morning), position in relation to facilities (not to close..or too far away from the toilets and the play area), position of trees and of the nearest water tap. Then before anything else I needed to have my cup of tea. I then bussled about getting the van sorted while Robbie and the kids went swimming. I have even been making sandwiches for trips out. God what has happened to me? At what age do you turn into your mother? Next thing I’ll be buying a flask…oh god I have.

Another thing that reminds me of mum is the total depression I go into when the weather is bad…and god it’s been bad. We have had constant rain for about 24 hours and the forecast says it’s set in for several days. It’s the first rain they’ve had at mission beach for months. Our campsite is a large pool of water. And this is the dry season! Anyway miss you mum…

We met Robbies Dad yesterday. He has had the most wonderful life for the past 5 years travelling around camping and working on peoples properties (farms) with his partner Roz. We caught up with him for dinner yesterday and he is going to travel with us for the next week or so. There’s something wrong with the site at the moment and we can’t attach pictures but I’ll put one on as soon as I can.

  1. Hi Claire,
Oh dear! oh dear! oh dear!. I am not sure that I can hack two of the same in the one house. However, you are not quite there yet, it is important that you know if there is toilet paper in the loo and whether it is nice soft, Andrex type or if it is sheets of government property stuff, unkind to the sensitive areas!

Sorry to hear about the rain but actually when one is in ones tent all snug and warm and it is raining outside, it is quite a nice feeling. I am not quite so sure about the flooded campsite. I wonder if Jack can remember when he punctured the bulging tent full of water.

    Love Dad

  2. Oh dear. Weather like North Wales then! Did you get my text from the top of Snowdon. I picked a good day weather wise. It was fabulous up there. I got very emotional. Crying on phone to Dad. Getting like my daughter! Still I did have my nice flask of coffee and my sandwiches to cheer me up. Did have a good time in Wales in spite of weather. Poor PG. Expect he was hoping to get a sun tan. Lots of love to all Mum xxxxx

  3. I bet you think i’m having a little smile that its raining out there? Maybe a tiny little weeney one yes! If it makes you feel better, i had a week off two weeks ago and it rained non stop for the first 4 days of it, and i mean rain!! By wednesday i had the bath filled up and the electric fire at the ready!!

You are a mother and yes you act like one so get over it. He he. So the others are having all the fun but not you? Then get ur butt in gear and get ‘enjoying and interactive’ cos before you know it, it will be all over. I’l swap places with you and it can rain as much as it likes.

Hope you haven’t nagged Robbie to much mummy Claire as you will just drive him to eat more!

Well have fun, more frog and animal pictures Bronti, some fire eating from Jack and less eating from Robbie!

    Baz x
