Cape Tribulation

Our campsite at Cape Tribulation is beautiful. Right on the classic Aussie Dream Beach. We have been swimming in the sea despite the rain as the water is like bath water. The mangroves here are amazing. Such strange and beautiful shapes. Many of the fish lay their eggs in the mangroves. The pictures show the mangrove roots, the crocodile creek and the kids playing footie on the sand in a snatched moment of sunshine.

  1. Middle picture when blown up looks as thoughthere is this strange object resting on the water! Bottom picture blown up is really good. Are these the dutch boys that you refer to?

Day of excitement here yesterday when a youngster got caught in the undercurrents at Hillhead just in front of the Osbourne View pup. I was upstairs and could here the shouts for help. He was eventually rescued by two kayaks and you can imagine the large number of gawking onlookers from the Pub gathering on the beach!

Can’t wait for the next update.

  3. Hi,only just realised that you can blow up the pictures when you click on them. They are amazing. What is that on the water in the middle picture? Can’t wait to see the new swimsuit Bronte. Where are you Claire? haven’t seen many pictures of you, or are you the one that gets landed with the camera? I swear with all the rain you are experiencing, Jack and Bronte have sprouted. I felt like a midget standing beside them before, but next time we see them I’m going to have an inferiority complex.
    Love you loads.

  4. Hi Claire and Robbie, Wow you look as tho you are all having brilliant fun. We got back from Portugal a week and a half ago and have been meaning to see what you’ve been up to ever since. The photos you’re showing are fantastic. Richard and I went to Cape Tribulation and know exactly where your campsite is. you have to go across boards and little bridges through the mangroves to get to the beach don’t you? I am too much of a scaredy cat to have gone near the water with all the ‘Achtung (why in German?) Crocodile’ signs. On the road up there is there still a Bumps in the Road roadsign which someone has made into a lying down Cassowary bird? I thought that was funny. That reminds me, my most favourite thing in Australia were all the budgies and parakeets flying around – and the dolphins.

We are all fine. Dom is in the Gulf and they have 50 celcius at the moment – poor boy. Today, a young girl was knocked off her motorbike right outside the house, by one of our guests trying to pull out past the Hunt’s 4 x 4. We actually know her family slightly. But she’s fine, just very bruised. The police closed the road and the ambulance car and then van took ages getting her onto a stretcher as they thought she might have broken her leg at first. It wasn’t anyone’s fault as the car was trying to peep round and she obviously didn’t see him either. So more excitement in Hill Head!

Well you carry on having fun while the rest of us have to work. Take care, love Elaine and Richard xxxx

  5. Hi All.

Thanks for replying to the messages. Some of you asked about the strange object in the picture on the beach. It’s Jack’s rugby ball in the air!

Yes Dot, I’m taking most of the pics as no-one would bother otherwise. I’m a pretty uninteresting subject anyway!

Elaine and Richard…it all sounds exciting in Hillhead..more so than normal anyway! Yes we love all the birds too. Have some fab pictures here but no time to get them all on. Yes we saw the sign at Cape Trib too!
